Live up to your challenges

Shaheen-Jafargholi

I was following Britain’s Got Talent on the internet after seeing Susan Boyle’s performance on YouTube. You would probably know her name by now as she made headlines all over the world and also registered 175 million hits on YouTube. Although her story is rather remarkable someone else got my attention. His name is Shaheen Jafargholi and he is 12 years old. When he came on stage he started singing his song of choice and obviously the crowd loved this song. But very soon into his performance Simon, one of the judges, became irate and stopped the song.

He said to Shaheen, “You’ve got this really wrong. What do you sing apart from that?

By now the other judges were shocked, not to speak about the disbelieve and silence that fell on the crowd.

Shaheen replied “Who is loving you by Michael Jackson”

“You want to give that a go?” Simon continued.

“Yes” he said.

They got the music queued and Shaheen gave a brilliant performance, silencing Simon.

What I find remarkable is the fact that this boy lived up to the challenge. So easily he could have fumbled and ran off to his mother (that was visibly trembling by now), but he decided to accept the challenge and as a result, really got the people on their feet and gave a brilliant performance.

Afterwards Simon remarked; “This is how one song could change your life”

Indeed it is.

When we live up to challenges in our life, we not only achieve great successes but also grow spiritually.

Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.  (1Co 9:24)
