But Jesus ignored their comments and said to Jairus, “Don’t be afraid. Just trust me.” (NLT)
Let’s face it, we all look to others for their opinions. This does not have to be a bad thing. There are many whose opinions could be helpful when making decisions.
If you are going to purchase a home for the first time you should find some people with experience in that area to ask for advice. Experiential knowledge is a good thing. Others who have walked the walk before us can be helpful, but I always try to remember that their walk may not have been the same as the walk I am on.
Yet how often do we turn to our family and friends, whose opinions come from the latest television show they watched or their overactive imagination. Their fears taint their advice and often we are discouraged by those closest to us.
We need to focus on what the Lord has to say to us. We need to ignore the comments of others and move forward with the Truth. As Jesus said, “Don’t be afraid. Just trust me.”
