Little Johnny’s kindergarten class was on a field trip to their local police station where they saw pictures, tacked to a bulletin board, of the 10 most wanted men.
One of the youngsters pointed to a picture and asked if it really was the photo of a wanted person.
“Yes,” said the policeman. “The detectives want him very badly.”
So little Johnny asked, “Why didn’t you keep him when you took his picture?”
We need to hold onto what we have. That’s one of the themes of the book of Hebrews, as a number of Christians were considering giving up their faith in Christ to go back into Judaism. To them, the Hebrew writer says:
“Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.” (Hebrews 4:14).
“Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.” (Hebrews 10:23).
Feel like quitting? Don’t! Feel like it’s not worth all the trouble? It is! Whatever you do, don’t ever let go of something so valuable as your faith in Christ.
Have a great day!
