Pumpkin pie

The new bride had spent hours preparing pumpkin pie for their first Thanksgiving dinner together. During desert, she watched her husband slowly savor each forkful.

“How was it, Honey?” she asked when he’d finished.

“Well,” he began thoughtfully, wiping his lips, “you probably could have beaten the eggshells a little longer. But on the whole, it’s good.”

Opportunity

A mother was preparing pancakes for her sons, Kevin 5, and Ryan 3. The boys began to argue over who would get the first pancake. Their mother saw the opportunity for a moral lesson. “If Jesus were sitting here, He would say, ‘Let my brother have the first pancake, I can wait.’ Kevin turned to his younger brother and said, “Ryan, you be Jesus!”

Inviting Dwight L. Moody

A group of clergymen were discussing whether or not they ought to invite Dwight L. Moody to their city.  The success of the famed evangelist was brought to the attention of the men.  One unimpressed minister commented,

“Does Mr. Moody have a monopoly on the holy Ghost?”

Another man quietly replied,

“No, but the Holy Ghost seems to have a monopoly on Mr. Moody.”
