imageA middle school music director was getting his band ready for a concert, and realized that they just weren’t ready. So to reassure those who weren’t sure of their parts, he told them, “If you’re not sure of your part, just pretend to play.” When the big moment arrived, he brought his baton down with a sweeping flourish and lo, nothing happened. No one played a single note.

It’s important that we who make up the Church find our spot in the orchestra, and that we all play our notes. We can’t just pretend to live for Christ. We must be deeply genuine in our devotion and love for Christ.
